Group A Preview: Pakistan vs Nepal

Pakistan and Nepal will face each other in SAFF Suzuki Cup when they kick off the 2018 edition of the competition.

Pakistan recently returned to playing football after more than three years and coach Jose Antonio Nogueira shed light on the expectations from his team, giving emphasis to restarting football in the country.

"We know that there has been no football activity in Pakistan for the past three years. For the senior team, tomorrow's match will be the first in four years. We're preparing the team for the future. This is our goal now, to prepare the team again, to recover all the time lost in the last few years when there was no football in Pakistan. This is what we're working for. We have to restart the preparation of all the teams. We need at least one year to recover this," said Pakistan coach Jose Antonio Nogueira.

Pakistan will go into this game with some confidence, having won the match against Nepal in the recently concluded Asian Games, but newly appointed interim head coach of Nepal, Bal Gopal Maharjan is confident of the nation's performance in the SAFF Suzuki Cup.

"I hope all the players in my team are focused for the competition. We're motivated despite the results in the Asian Games. We hope that this time, under the new set-up, we'll get new and better results as well. We feel totally changed from the Asian Games. We have six-seven senior players now," he said.

Pakistan and Nepal are in Group A along with Bhutan and home team Bangladesh.
