Group A Preview: Bangladesh vs Pakistan

Group A toppers, Bangladesh and Pakistan, will face each other in a clash that will decide which team would cement a spot in the semi-finals of the SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018.

Bangladesh beat Bhutan 2-0, and Pakistan staged a dream comeback to international football beating Nepal 2-1, to secure the crucial three points on Day 1 of the tournament. The results have already set a stage for a tantalizing attack-oriented match.

It will be interesting to see how both the teams would prepare to neutralise the potent counter-attacking style of football they displayed in their opening matches.

"We're going to play against Bangladesh at their home. Obviously, it will be quite difficult, but it is up to us to fight. We played well and got the result (against Nepal) but I want more from my team. We have to go up from here," said Pakistan coach Jose Antonio Nogueira.

Speaking about where his side could improve in the next game, Bangladesh head coach Jamie Day said, "We competed very well against Bhutan but there's always room for improvement. We will look at all the things we need to work on and implement that against Pakistan. They're a different team. They're going to be bigger and stronger physically, they'll also be better on the ball. We need to make sure our shape is good".

The home advantage is there with Bangladesh and Day acknowledged the same and said, "The support from the fans against Bhutan was fantastic and I know if the fans turn up in equal numbers, or more, against Pakistan and Nepal, the boys will play even better".

Pakistan have won back-to-back games in the SAFF Suzuki Cup and could equal their longest winning streak in the competition in this game (three games in January 2003).
